Subject: [dita] Table Model returns (vendors)

    To the question:

      - Which one can the most tool vendors handle?

    ------------------------------------

I know the kind Blast-radius vendor (XMetaL) said this question
does not matter, and I hope she is right.

But is used to be the decider and I'm old enough to remember that.
I once gave a talk at an SGML 'XX conference as part of a panel
describing which table model to use. (There were choices like
SAS, SoftQuad, AAP simple, AAP complex, CALS, etc. 8 or 9 in all.)
As a panel we discussed features and functionality and usability.
But we decided none of those was the critical factor.

I had made a table of with tool vendor names on one axis and table
models on the other. You got an "X" in the box if you supported that
particular table model. Only the CALS model had a full row of XXX's
    form all vendors.

In those days, there was no choice as a consultant (at that time)
but to recommend the CALS model.

I guess I'm asking what that graph would look like now.
