OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC

OASIS members and other interested parties,  Members of the OASIS Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) TC [1] have recently approved a Special Majority Ballot [2] to advance Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) Version 1.3 as a Candidate OASIS Standard (COS). The COS now enters a 60-day public review period in preparation for a member ballot to consider its approval as an OASIS Standard. Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) Version 1.3 Candidate OASIS Standard 01 03 September 2015 Specification Overview:  The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) 1.3 specification defines both a) a set of document types for authoring and organizing topic-oriented information; and b) a set of mechanisms for combining, extending, and constraining document types. This release of DITA comes in three parts called Editions, optimized for different audiences: - The Base Edition is designed for application developers and users who need only the most fundamental pieces of the DITA framework. - The Technical Content Edition includes specializations usually used by technical communicators. - The All Inclusive Edition is the largest edition. TC Description: The purpose of the OASIS DITA Technical Committee (TC) is to define and maintain the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) and to promote the use of the architecture for creating standard information types and domain-specific markup vocabularies. DITA is specializable, which allows for the introduction of specific semantics for specific purposes without increasing the size of other XML grammar files, and which allows the inheritance of shared design and behavior and interchangeability with unspecialized content.   Public Review Period: The 60-day public review starts 17 September 2015 at 00:00 UTC and ends 15 November 2015 at 23:59 UTC. This is an open invitation to comment. OASIS solicits feedback from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of its technical work.
