Subject: [dita] Table Model returns (DITA use case)

The OASIS Exchange (CALS) model was developed form the DataLogics
Pager Composition model for type-setting tables. The worst of the
type-only features were removed during the OASIS regularization
    process.

The XHTML model was developed out of the really rude and basic
rows and columns HTML model. More control features have been
    added as the model matures.

So one has its origins in type and one in web. The biggest differences
now lie in the attributes. XHTML has mode web controls. Exchanges
has more rule and print controls.
