    Dear Mary,

The EM-TC voted on 1/19/2010 to request a ballot for Committee
Specification for CAP 1.2. The meeting notes indicating a vote for
Committee Draft, a request for CS ballot and a request to begin the
OASIS Wide Standard vote can be found at
    http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/emergency/download.php/36003/Draft%20Meeting%20Notes%201-19-10.doc

    The document link
    http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/emergency/download.php/35821/CAPv1.2-CD04.doc
refers to the CD04 which was voted to advance to CS and Standard in
the meeting notes above. We understand that there wont be any title
changes until the CS is approved. Once that is done, we can supply
    the html and pdf versions.

We understand that three statements of use are required for OASIS
ratification vote. Links to these statements are provided below:

    Hi Elysa,

I believe there have been interops but they aren't noted in the statements of use. Here's the definition from the TC Process:

"Statement of Use", with respect to a specification, is a written statement by an OASIS Organizational Member stating that it is successfully using or implementing that specification in accordance with the conformance clauses specified in Section 2.18, ***and stating whether its use included the interoperation of multiple independent implementations.***

I'll also need the comment resolution log from the public comment period, and I don't see anything in the minutes about the TC agreeing that there were no substantive changes between the iteration submitted for public review and this new draft.

    Thanks,

    Mary

  • 4.  CAP v1.2 schema(s) issue

    All,

The CAP Public Review Draft 02 dated 29 September 2009 [0] contains a schema in section 3.4.  Call this the "schema in the document."  The document claims that Section 3 is normative, and there is no exception noted for the schema.

OASIS also provides that schema separately in [1] and [2].  Call each these identical schemata the "free-standing schema."

Unfortunately, the schema in the document is different from the free-standing schema.  In addition to a host of insignificant whitespace

    changes:

    (a) the types of the <altitude> and <ceiling> elements are different (xs:string in the free-standing schema vs. xs:decimalstring in the schema in the document; note that decimalstring is not part of the XML standard schema definition); and

    (b) the <mimeType> element is optional in the schema in the document and required in the free-standing schema

So which schema is correct and/or normative, and will OASIS fix this problem when CAP v1.2 moves from Public Review Draft status to Standard status?

We would like to use the free-standing schema (draft), but is this correct?

My suggestion is to fix this error immediately, before it's approved as a CS. The stand-alone schema has precedence over the one printed in the spec; that doesn't mean you shouldn't fix it however. If the change is deemed substantive an errata can't be used to fix the error.

    Mary

To be sure you are up to date, you should be using Committee Draft 04 as that is the version that will be voted on for the CS. Yes there are differences in whitespace due to the Word document including line numbering.
