Subject: FYI: OWS-3 - OGC Web Services, Emergency response, and use of OASIS standards.
All -
The OGC has just initiated the OGC Web Services 3.0 Test Bed initiative.
Building on previous work in other OGC initiatives and technical working groups,
OWS-3 participants will work collaboratively to extend the OGC baseline to
enable an interoperable, multi-source decision support environment. I thought
that this might be of interest as one of the "Threads" of the test bed is for
Decision Support. This Thread (business process) is what occurs After a CAP
message is received :-) It is of interest because this the DSS effort will use a
variety of OASIS standards, including BPEL and ebRIM. Notice thge demonstration
scenario. The demonstration scenario needs to be flushed out still but will
include an urban threat as well as a rural wild fire.
The Geo-Decision Support Services subtask will extend the DSS and Information
Interoperability work done in OWS-2. One issue facing DSS systems is the ability
to exchange and access geographic information within and across information
communities (Information communities are groups that share common geographic
terms and common spatial feature definitions). To address this issue, the GeoDSS
subtask will leverage the Information Interoperability work from OWS-2 to
explore ways to tailor geographic information for different information
communities. The GeoDSS subtask will also build on the OWS-2 service
chaining work to explore (in cooperation with the Sensor Web subtask) the
integration and processing of geographic and sensor data to support an emergency
response scenario. In addition, GeoDSS will develop new capabilities
including a geoVideo service, XML schemas for moving objects and a portrayal
service for feature data. Finally, GeoDSS will explore extensions/enhancements
to the underlying OGC services to address a greater extent of emergency response
scenarios.
