So, the World Economic Forum has within it...many different industry groups, finance, health, etc...one of them is Telecommunications.  The Telecommunications group started a 3 years project/focus called Rethinking Personal Data. They have 5 special strategic partners helping them with the content on this - Boston Consulting Group, Frog Design, MIT Media Lab (Sandy Pentland), Berkman Center at Harvard (John Clippinger), STL Partners (Analyist/consultancy in London ran event called Telco 2.0...did one called Privacy 2.0 and now thinking about New Digital Economics as their brand).  Last year the consultancy was BAIN and they wrote/pulled together this report:  http://www.weforum.org/issues/rethinking-personal-data .  It is totally worth downloading and reading.  The WEF just had in NYC the industry planning meeting for Davos and some of the folks in the above group are also on the Global Agenda Setting Council of the WEF.  That is happening this coming week in Davos.  Following the WEF meetings this week (of which I attended one focused on healthcare) there as the STLPartners event New Digital Economics.  I presented a new landscape of the Personal Data Ecosystem that was well received.  (Attached).  The big thing they are looking at is how personal data can be used and shared in ways that are oriented around individuals control AND in ways that economic value can be realized.  One of my many hats is running the Personal Data Ecosystem Consortium ( http://www.personaldataecosystem.org ) that I founded last year around this time. We have our startup Circle program going with now 18 startups participating all agreeing to give users control of their own data.  STL Partners had an innovators show case and I think we had 5 companies out of the 8 that presented at the show in that section.  e are supporting the space for natural organic collaboration amongst these companies and encouraging natural convergence towards standards.  We are also looking next to how we support the large enterprises looking at this space with our Industry Collaborative Program.  Their report from last year is quite good.  Big question is: what is the HTML of Personal data going to be? Good news is XRI-XDI is in the running. Mike Shwartz of gluu.org presented at the STL Innovators show case.  On a different but related note...The W3C is hosting a Federated Social Web summit thingy in the first week of November I think.  I will likely be attending (if I get more details soon).   Talk to you all in 5,   - Kaliya Attachment: PD-Landsacpe-1Page.graffle.pdf Description: Adobe PDF document
