Ann,
Both excellent suggestions.

Dee,
Do we want to make provision for an MS face-to-face meeting after the
Workshop....this was quite useful after the London event.

Yes, good comments. Here is the budget enclosed for Burton, it is pretty
thrifty for Europe. The DSS is presenting next week and then I need to
post a KAVI vote to recommend them to the MS or not officially.
Best,
Dee

Hi Dee,
I agree with John. Given the amount we are spending (actually, what is
the costs compare to the hospitality suite) and we have to plan the day
ourselves. It would be reasonable to ask for free passes for SC
members. We may potentially bring more attendees to their event as
well.
Also, you mentioned DSS TC presenting. Do you know what is the status
of them joining our member section? I am not sure what their
expectation is but I don't think current member section members should
be funding TCs that are not within our member section. It would be good
if they can be part of our member section in the very near future.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
June

Dee,
I agree this looks like a great opportunity for the MS.
Can you possibly negotiate Catalyst passes for the SC members who will
be attending in addition to the TC Chairs - that would free up
additional passes for use as needed for speakers as you suggest as well
as save the SC some money. Just a thought (and I realize this may not be
possible given your negotiations with Burton to date).
Also, at the London workshop, I believe the SC members all had roles in
the event (e.g., introducing a panel) in addition to the overall
spokesperson, and that should be something to consider in our planning
for the day.
John

Also, do we want to secure a keynote to open the day or is that
necessary?

Hi,
I hope that you all feel as good about this opportunity as I do? I think
this could be great!
Clearly, the sooner I get this short description to them, the better.
Surely, they are worried about one workshop cannibalizing another but I
think their stronger sentiment is that we can reach into our OASIS
community and potentially drive some traffic to the entire event.
FYI, speakers get a free conference pass (we have about 6-7 free
passes), so I am thinking that obviously we will have our TCs speak, so
that is 3 free passes (EKMI, PKIA, DSS-X). Do we want a spokes person
from the SC to basically run the day? I included money in the budget to
cover your conference fee (which is at a nice discount), as well as
travel. But if we have 3 more passes to offer to speakers, shouldn't we
use them to go to Concordia, ETSI, ITU, and EEMA and try to find a high
level person to speak and sit on a panel?
Juan Carlos (chair of DSS) is also really involved with ETSI. I have the
name of a high level government person in Barcelona from ETSI; he has a
lot of outreach in Barcelona. Abbie is involved in ITU-T IdM and
Concordia. John has great ties with EEMA, as I do too. More suggestions?
Best,
Dee
