Thank you for your comments. I tend to agree with your assessment of
handling white space. Upon review, I convert '\n' to <x ctype='lb'/> in
JavaScript source, but do nothing with new lines in <textarea> content in
XHTML source. 

Thanks for pointing out that form feed characters are invalid XML in one of
your other recent messages.
