IF changes in Open Formula - 6.15.4 - applied but have questions

  • 1.  IF changes in Open Formula - 6.15.4 - applied but have questions

Greetings! Picking up issues from Michael's typo list and just applied changes to IF in OpenFormula, but have questions: 1) Trivial - I assume Condition is always written with upper-case C? I ask because the proposal has it both ways. I used upper-case C. 2) "This function only evaluates either IfTrue or IfFalse, and never both; that is to say, it short-circuits." Is that correct? I ask because a truth function is always either T or F, but that isn't because it "short circuits." I seem to remember that "short circuit" means if I have F or T values, then evaluation stops at F, there is no need to evaluate the next term. Yes? So should I change that to read: "This function only evaluates either IfTrue or IfFalse." 3) after the list of the cases, ifTrue is always 0, until we reach the last line: "If there are 3 parameters but the third parameter is null (semicolon but no IfFalse, cases d and f), IfFalse is considered to be 0." I assume that means ifTrue is considered to be 1 in the last case? Yes? So, unless it is customary, why are we switching back and forth on the value of ifTrue? Thanks! Hope everyone is having a great week! Patrick PS: Pending your comments, except for the uppercase C for Condition, I applied the resolution as written. -- Patrick Durusau patrick@durusau.net Technical Advisory Board, OASIS (TAB) Editor, OpenDocument Format TC (OASIS), Project Editor ISO/IEC 26300 Co-Editor, ISO/IEC 13250-1, 13250-5 (Topic Maps) Another Word For It (blog): http://tm.durusau.net Homepage: http://www.durusau.net Twitter: patrickDurusau Attachment: signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
