Hi,
as discussed in the last TC call, the ODF 1.2 specification requires an
overview or main document, that could be referred to as "the" ODF 1.2
specification.
I did already upload a draft for this overview document a few days ago,
but now made some more adaptations to this document as well as to the
individual three parts. A summary of changes is below. If possible, I
would like make another motion for a CD/PR ballot tomorrow.
The new documents are:
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/37866/OpenDocument-v1.2-part0-draft2.odt
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/37865/OpenDocument-v1.2-part1-cd04-rev07.odt
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/37864/OpenDocument-v1.2-part2-cd02-rev07.odt
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/37863/OpenDocument-v1.2-part3-cd01-rev06.odt
The part 0 (or main) document contains:
- A full TOC
- A scope statement
- A normative reference section that actually is empty, but states that
the normative references are contained in the individual parts.
- The conformance clauses. These only mention the conformance target and
the part where the requirements for a conformance target are defined.
- The acknowledgments
The following changes have been made to the three individual parts:
- The abstracts and introductions now state that the documents are part
of the OpenDocument v1.2 specification, and state only what is part of
the specific part
- The conformance clauses has been turned into normative statements, and
have been moved to the beginning of the document. This allows us to have
the conformance clauses all in the main part. Please note that the
content of the (former) conformance clauses has not changed. Only the
wording and numbering has been adapted slightly. The requirements that
the conformance targets have to meet still are the same.
- The acknowledgments have been removed
- For part 1 only: The scope statement has been removed (it is now in
part 0), and the content of the "Document Processing" chapter has been
moved into the "Document Structure" chapter (it was somehow misplaced at
the end of the document after the conformance clauses have been moved to
the top of the document)
- For Part 2 only: The "scope" section now is called "Purpose" to avoid
confusion with the "Scope" statement in the main document.
Best regards
Michael
