SGIP-ALL@smartgridlistserv.org Tuesday, May 8, 2012 Three More Approved for Catalog of Standards The SGIP membership voted to include three sets of standards into the Catalog of Standards (CoS) with approval responses of 96 percent or greater. Please click on the titles below to see a summary of each standard: IEC 61850: The IEC 61850 series of standards define object models, abstract services, and mappings to communications protocols for field devices and systems. The scope of IEC 61850 includes information exchanges within substations, for protective relaying, between substations, between substations and control centers, within hydro power plants, for distribution automation, for managing distributed energy resources (generation and storage), and for managing charging of electric vehicles. IEEE C37.239-2010: Common Format for Event Data Exchange (COMFEDE) for Power Systems represents a superset of what is in IEC 61850. Information from interrogating field equipment can be stored natively in the COMFEDE format or be translated via a tool into COMFEDE format. OASIS Energy Interoperation: OASIS Energy interoperation describes an information model and a communication model to enable collaborative and transactive use of energy, service definitions consistent with the OASIS SOA Reference Model [SOA-RM], and XML vocabularies for the interoperable and standard exchange of dynamic price signals, emergency signals, load predictability and generation information exchange of signals and communication of market participation information, to name a few. * * *
