There are some of issues to be resolved:
The XML schema for iCalendar needs some further work. In it's original
form it is unsuitable for use in XML frameworks such as JAXB. Some work
has already taken place to address that.
More work may need to be done to improve the extensibility of the
schema and to allow it to handle some constructs. There's a question as
to whether the schema shoudl allow for the round-tripping of data at
least one end of the connection does not understand, e.g. new calendar
properties or x-properties.
The CalWS protocol as specified is a RESTful protocol. An extension to
that protocol will be needed to provide definitions and schemas for SOAP
based services.
