The Qlabs' KMIP interop test server is available for testing. Use cases 3.1.x and 16.1 have passed internal testing. Other use cases may also work, but have not yet been fully tested. Please email me for access details and credentials. The interop testing is due to commence today - 23-Jan-2012 - finishing 3-Feb-2012. All vendors should now have access to the Cryptsoft vendor-specific servers and also to the dedicated (shared) interop servers as previously emailed - if anyone is having issues please drop me a note. Generally we confirm connectivity with a Query operation given that it is mandatory to support that. Based on our experiences from previous interops I've attached general notes on the process we discussed late last year which should assist. I've also provided the specific details as to the use cases supported by Cryptsoft servers being used for this interop. Currently our C interop server lags our Java interop server in terms of support for a number of the use cases which we intend to resolve shortly. We also have a new spreadsheet format for this year drawn from the challenges of keeping results clear last year. It is a spreadsheet for each vendor which can then be combined into a single results spreadsheet with summary information once the status is clear. The "instructions" sheet outlines what needs to be done. It is important to update the version number in the file name so we don't lose track of the "current" version of each result set. For those vendors who have use cases outside the list in the KMIP 1.0 Use Case document or the KMIP 1.1 Use Case document these will need to be clearly outlined if they are to be incorporated in any vendor-to-vendor testing or they will not be able to be included in the results as there needs to be a clear enough definition that results can be verified. I'll be documenting a use case variant for registering a symmetric key with a user defined attribute which is an image encoded in a bytestring to match the objective of being able to display more "interesting" information during the RSA2012 interop. If issues arise which lead to updates to vendor software please ensure that everyone is aware of any changes so that re-testing can occur - and keep in mind that you may need to revert versions if sufficient regressions occur with updates. The interop results spreadsheets are missing a row for KMIP 1.1 for use case 11.2. Please add the following at row 54 into your respective results spreadsheets.   11.2 - Device Credential, Operation Policy, Destroy Date                     n         Thanks, Tim.

It was pointed out to me that we hadn't updated the external use case documents in the various HTML friendly formats so I've pushed out an update. http://interop.cryptsoft.com/kmip_uc/kmip_uc_1_0/ http://interop.cryptsoft.com/kmip_uc/kmip_uc_1_1/ The 1.0 version is the 1.0 base document with the various exchanged use cases prior to the 1.1 draft documents coming out so it includes 12.2, 14.1, 15.1, 15.2 and 16.1 which are KMIP 1.1 use cases as we haven't separately re-generated off the original use case document. If there is interest in that being made available to then drop me an email. Thanks, Tim.

I've gathered together material and feedback from the previous large slide deck to generate a short set of slides. As per our discussions these slides are focused on the interop rather than the more general (and much larger) set of slides which covered off on KMIP itself. If we are in general consensus amongst the interop participants on the slides the plan is to forward a PDF of the slides to the main TC in line with previous practice - so please provide your feedback to the interop group as a whole (or directly to me if you'd prefer to handle it that way). Thanks, Tim. Attachment: KMIP-presentation-9-feb-2012.ppt Description: MS-Powerpoint presentation
