Some interesting figures in this report, especially the lower cost of online services.   Do any of our UK colleagues have any insight into these figures or any comments on them?    http://digital.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/2013/01/17/gov-transaction-costs-behind-data     Regards John Borras   Chair OASIS eGOV MS Steering Committee   m. +(0)44 7976 157745 Skype:  gov3john

Hi John,             The Government Digital Strategy published in November (following on from the launch og GOV.UK as a single domain for information and transactional services) quickly resulted in some 18 departmental digital strategies. I have only read the one for the department that I primarily work for and see it is the most consistent view that they have presented on service development for some time.   I believe that the savings are based upon SOCITM figures but the changes proposed for services go further than most (if not all) Local Authorities have implemented and so, in theory, the savings could be still greater. However, I believe that there could be problems with delivery as the lynchpin of this is the basing of standards on the Government Digital Services approach. This is a pretty new unit and we have yet to see them develop the standards for transactional services and share these with departments. The introduction of another customer (i.e. GDS) into service development and the government’s avowed aim of increasing the participation of SMEs raise further challenges. It might be worth discussing this at our next TC meeting.     Regards   Nig   Nig Greenaway Public Sector   FUJITSU Lovelace Road, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 8SN Tel: +44 (0) 843 354 5637 Internal: 7302 5637 Mob : +44 (0) 7867 833147 Internal: 7383 3147 E-mail: nig.greenaway@uk.fujitsu.com Web: http://uk.fujitsu.com   From: tgf@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:tgf@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of John Borras Sent: 11 February 2013 09:27 To: tgf@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [tgf] UK GOV TRANSACTION COSTS   Some interesting figures in this report, especially the lower cost of online services.   Do any of our UK colleagues have any insight into these figures or any comments on them?    http://digital.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/2013/01/17/gov-transaction-costs-behind-data     Regards John Borras   Chair OASIS eGOV MS Steering Committee   m. +(0)44 7976 157745 Skype:  gov3john   Unless otherwise stated, this email has been sent from Fujitsu Services Limited, from Fujitsu (FTS) Limited, or from Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Limited, together Fujitsu . Thanks Nig.  I suspected we would have to take the figures with a  pinch of salt but the indicative scale of savings with online services if something we could use in our material going forward.    I’ll put this on the next TC agenda.   John   From: Greenaway Nigel [mailto:Nig.Greenaway@uk.fujitsu.com] Sent: 11 February 2013 11:03 To: John Borras; tgf@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: RE: [tgf] UK GOV TRANSACTION COSTS   Hi John,             The Government Digital Strategy published in November (following on from the launch og GOV.UK as a single domain for information and transactional services) quickly resulted in some 18 departmental digital strategies.
