Subject: [ubl] Proposed X12 hosting of summer UBL meeting
UBL members,
ASC X12 has offered to host our summer UBL meeting at the regular
X12 meeting 3-7 June 2002 in Minneapolis. Hotel information is
appended to this message below.
Recall that by the rules we adopted toward the beginning of the
UBL TC, we meet in person four times a year, once in Europe, once
on the east coast of the U.S., and twice on the west coast of the
U.S.
Minneapolis can be considered either in the direction of the east
coast or the direction of the west coast depending on how we want
to play this. My inclination is to call it west because that way
we get a September meeting venue of D.C. or Philadelphia, both
places that could manage to secure the necessary facilities and
both rather nice places to be in September.
Accepting the X12 offer will mean commiting to a meeting fee of
$200 per person, which is certainly reasonable.
Members who were around at the beginning will remember that we
were hoping to meet on a regular basis with both EDI standards
bodies. Following up the recent meeting with UN/EDIFACT in
Barcelona with the next available X12 meeting puts us on track to
do this. We've discussed the proposed meeting in the Liaison SC
and agreed that accepting this invitation would be a good thing to
do.
If any voting member of the TC has an objection to adopting this
plan, please file such objection on the list
