    I object.  It is my view that at-large elections must be completed before
    Dec. 31.  I suggest that Roger, the Secretary to the Steering Committee, who
    has conducted this process in the past, post a list of proposed deadlines
    that will accomplish that purpose, that we approve them by email, and that
    the nominations process commence immediately.  One year during my
    chairmanship we failed to conduct the elections as required and ran into the
    problems that Dee has identified concerning length of terms of the persons
    elected.  We sorted it out after the fact, but the process was awkward.  It
    is particularly important that we get this process underway with as much
    time as possible this year because I am not eligible for re-election and we
    need to make sure that we have enough candidates for a full slate of
    at-large SC members.
