Dee and Scott, I will be at the ECF face-to-face meeting 10/3 in Long Beach, CA where we plan to discuss the future of the ECF TC, the new LegalXML TCs that Monica Palmirani is proposing, and, by extension, the future of the LegalXML Member Section. Robert O’Brien and Monica, the only other members of the LegalXML Steering Committee are willing to participate in the ECF TC meeting and as well as a face-to-face meeting of the LegalXML Steering Committee if the Member Section can cover their travel expenses. I personally think this would be a great use of available LegalXML Member Section funds and am willing to submit a formal request for allocation of funds. However, this would normally be approved by the LegalXML Steering Committee and we need to be sensitive to the perceived conflict of interest of members of the Steering Committee approving reimbursement of their own expenses. Assuming that Monica and Robert provide an estimate of their travel expenses that is reasonable and within the limits of available LegalXML Member Section funding, do you see a way that OASIS can approve the use of these funds that avoids the perception of a conflict of interest? I appreciate your timely response to this question. To minimize the cost of airfare, we should try to make a go/no-go decision on this issue soon.
