I think it is good to find out what happened for the voter who wasn't
successful in casting a ballot -- Lyndon Johnson said your vote is
property, and that's true. I trust that the matter will be investigated
so we may know whether the cause was computer error, an enrollment
problem, human error, or some dark force.
The election process has been distressing to me, particularly the
rhetoric about it, which has seemed to me out of proportion. It is not
worth it to me to voice further concern, for my time is also property
and I want to spend it well. This was, after all, a small election with
an outcome that is clear and apparently fair.
I will not seek the role of an officer on the Steering Committee this
year. I want to focus on why I am here - representing the TC that
selected me.

Subject: RE: [legalxml-sc] At-Large Election Results
I forwarded this to Dee a little while ago. One eligible voter was
unable to logon to vote.
This poses a problem for me. While it might be tempting to ignore the
implications as a boring inconvenience, I personally feel doing so
would devalue the vote and even the notion of democracy itself,
reducing it from an ends to a means. In this first decade of a new
millenium where the issue of democracy as a way of life defines our
times, I am reluctant to go in any direction that does not accord full
respect to each member's vote.
Unless there is disagreement, I propose to bring the issue up to the SC
tomorrow's meeting after the new members are introducted as new
business and in terms of how practically to get Mr. Minton's vote
recorded, if he still wants to cast it. I think the whole matter can be
handled via email with him.

Can you help? Gabe Minton is an eligible voter but he was unable to
access the ballot.
