i posted this on the fedora list earlier today, but i figure this is
just as appropriate a venue.
what's the starter set of packages that one needs to start
processing docbook5 on fedora 12, if one wants to work strictly with
XML (not SGML), and leave DSSSL out of it, and so on? in short, how
little must i install depending on what output i want to generate?
minimally, i realize i'm going to need (and what follows is out of
pure ignorance since i have yet to attempt db5 processing on fedora):
* libxml2 (for xmllint and xmlcatalog)
* libxslt (for xsltproc)
* docbook5-schemas
* docbook5-style-xsl
* fop (for PDF output)
you get the idea. i want to put together a single-page wiki entry
that shows fedora 12 people how to get started with writing and
processing db5, but i don't want to drag along all the historical
baggage.
thoughts? i'm just about to peruse bob stayton's docbook XSL book,
and i can already see the caution that xmllint can't fully handle
docbook5.
