The work is based on the Akoma Ntoso, a project sponsored by the United Nations. Akoma Ntoso means "linked hearts" in the Akan language of West Africa. For legal publishers and makers of legal information systems, Akoma Ntoso provides a framework for creating machine-readable parliamentary, legislative and judiciary documents such as legislation, debate records, minutes, judgments, etc. In doing so, it helps build a strong foundation for open access to government information.
