As requested, I am forwarding this on behalf of Duane.

Duane's resignation is a major loss to the overall ebXML initiative. As
one who knew Duane and valued his company (especially during meeting
down times), I am sorry to see this turn of events.

    thanx,
    	doug

    Dear all:

I have participated in every single ebXML meeting since November 1999. I
have always believed in the spirit and intent of ebXML and subsequent
work. I am very grateful for the way I have been welcomed into the
standards worlds of OASIS and CEFACT by all of you. Over the last 4
years, I have developed a deep respect for different points of view and
learned a lot personally as well as professionally.

At this point, however, I am announcing my resignation from UN/CEFACT
as the project team lead for the UN/CEFACT TMG eBusiness Architecture
Team as well as from my provisional position as the Chair of the
eBusiness Working Group and the ebXML Jount Coordination Committee.
Until such time as the eBusiness Architecture group elects a new project
team lead, I will recommend either Marion Royal (current co-leader),
Kenji Itoh or Monica Martin assume temporary leadership for the group.
I have a great respect for each of their technical and leadership
capabilities and will support them to help lead the group. According to
the CEFACT ODP, I presume they will have to officially elect a new
leader as one of their first orders of business.

I do not make this decision lightly, nor am I directing blame at anyone
for this decision. Recent events have been a factor in my decision
however, I will not discuss these further. I hold every single person
who has participated with me in CEFACT and ebXML in the absolute highest
regard and have enjoyed working with you over the years. Out of respect
for the friends I have gained and personal relationships with many of
you, I will not discuss any more my reasons for my decision and hope to
remain friendly to all those involved. I feel that my further
participation will make me chose between "sides" and I do not relish
that thought. I wish that all those in CEFACT will be able to move
forward and put the recent events behind them. I also wish all those in
CEFACT the best of luck in pursuing their future goals and will lend
technical support on a friendly basis to anyone who requests it (beers
    are optional ;-)

I have one request of UN/CEFACT - I would like my name to remain on the
new UN/CEFACT eBusiness Architecture as it progresses to version 1.0 (as
a contributor??). I believe that the architecture specification is a
state of the art Service Oriented Architecture and will set a standard
for future SOA's. Please keep the momentum going on this and other
    CEFACT work.

It has been an honour serving with you all for the last 4 years.

    best wishes

    Duane Nickull
