dmizzen@ara.com Subject: Community Resilience Workshop - Priority Data and Information Needs, October 25-26, 2018 Dear Resilience Colleague, Local decision makers face many challenges as they plan and implement actions to improve the resilience of their communities -- and they need data, information, and tools. You are invited to take part in an interactive workshop on October 25-26, 2018 , sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Center for Risk-Based Resilience Planning, with guidance from local officials and national organizations. Community representatives will share their experiences and recommend specific, priority needs for the top types of community resilience-related data, information, and tools need by decision makers in communities across the nation. The workshop will be organized around three tracks and include plenary and working breakout sessions: Session 1: How Communities Characterize Themselves, Set Goals, & Make Decisions Session 2: The Gap Between Current and Desired Performance of the Community’s Built Environment Session 3: Community Resilience Priorities and Solutions Representatives of cities, counties, regional bodies, and states will share their experiences and recommend specific needs. Participants will include Federal agencies, universities , non-profits, and the private sector. Outcomes of the workshop will be used to develop tools and guidance that facilitate decision-making.
