Tom -
No one has suggested that you not do your job. Many of us have
activities and responsibilities that are related to, but aren't
themselves, the work of this Technical Committee. And I hope you'd
agree that we all share the noble goals you espouse.
My concern is that our TC agreed to undertake a specific project as
quickly as possible, and that we could be delayed, seemingly
indefinitely, if we allow this other project, worthwhile as it may
be, to creep onto our critical path. (And, by the same token, that
we ought not insert ourselves into other groups' ongoing programs if
it isn't absolutely necessary.)
I think we all applaud the work you're doing as part of CapWin et al.
I'm sure we look forward to seeing the product. Meanwhile, though,
I'm suggesting the TC try to find ways to keep its own work moving
ahead. Don't you agree?
