Meeting summary: LwDITA DTDs The Lightweight DITA subcommittee met on August 2, 2017 to discuss issues relating to LwDITA DTDs (and Schema and RNG). This is not a formal meeting minutes, but a summary of issues discussed and recommendations made. Issues Discussed: DTD internal documentation — Discussed improvements to guiding comments and examples to support users who wish to add filtering attributes to DTD. Attribute/element groups — Discussed syntax and guiding comments for configuring attribute groups in the LwDITA DTDs. DTD Modularity and Delivery — Discussed whether/how the LwDITA DTDs should be modularized and how they should support configuration. Recommendation to the DITA TC: LwDITA should deliver a single topic and a single map DTD. Domains (highlighting and multimedia) should be integrated into these monolithic DTDs. Users who wish to configure LwDITA would modify those DTDs directly. The SC should provide best practices for configuration … for example, if you modify the LwDITA DTD, you should rename the DTD file and give it a new public identifier. Instructions for configuration can be deferred to the specification. (Not necessary for the committee note). The TC should deliver a package w/DTD, RNG, and W3C Schema for LwDITA. -- Alan Houser Group Wellesley, Inc. Consultant and Trainer, Technical Publishing arh on Twitter 412-450-0532
