  • 1.  Sept 1 deadline for stage 2 proposals is approaching

    Please remember that there is a HARD deadline for stage 2 proposals -- September 1. Any proposal that has not been completed, discussed, and voted on before September 1 will not move ahead.   • 2.  Queuing up stage 2 proposals for TC discussion and approval

    Folks, we have only four TC meetings before the September 1 deadline for approval. Before September 1, a stage-2 template must be completed, the proposal presented to the TC, any concerns addressed, the proposal updated (if necessary) and the proposal voted through to stage 3. Please also remember that the process requires (at a minimum) that a proposal be presented one week and voted on the next or later. This means that the very last day for the proposal to be discussed is 20 August. Here is the current schedule for stage 2 discussion: Date Discussion Voting 6 August 13097: New troubleshooting topic (TechComm SC) -- Continuing discussion 13060: Metadata to manage context-sensitive help windows (Help SC) 13061: Help context IDs (Help SC) 13 August 13112: RelaxNG for DITA vocabulary (Kimber) 13106: New base domain and specializations for question/answer interactions (L & T SC) 20 August 27 August Here are the stage-2 proposals that are NOT currently queued up for discussion: 13011: Quantities and tolerances (Machine Industry SC) 13040: Intersection of conditional processing and metadata elements (Helfinstine) -- Likely to be withdrawn and handled as a doc fix, if necessary 13102: Revision history/release management markup (TechComm SC) For champions of proposals 13011 and 13102, unless you plan to withdraw your proposal for DITA 1.3, I'd suggest that you get the proposal on the TC agenda as quickly as possible. If my memory is correct, both proposals have been discussed only once at the TC level and folks had serious questions and concerns.     Greetings,   I would like to make the withdrawal of the Stage 2 proposal of 13040 for DITA 1.3 official.
