Digital Signatures DII event, June 8

In case you haven't all been keeping up with Doug Mahugh's blog, our team is sponsoring a Document Interoperability Initiative event in Redmond on June 8. This DII event is devoted to the topic of Digital Signatures. David LeBlanc, who recently joined the ODF TC to work on digital signatures will be one of the presenters, as will Dennis Hamilton. For this event, we've added an option to attend virtually via LiveMeeting. For more info, you can find details on Doug's blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dmahugh/archive/2010/05/26/agenda-for-june-8-digital-signatures-workshop.aspx.

The focus of the presentation will be on the technical details of XAdES and what benefit you get from each additional level. To help organize my thoughts, I posted an article on my blog - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/david_leblanc/archive/2010/05/30/office-2010-digital-signatures-and-xades.aspx.

While that's written from the standpoint of what we just shipped in Office 2010, the technical benefits all certainly apply to what I'd like to see in ODF signatures going forward. I should spend part of the presentation discussing what I proposed earlier on this list as well.

BTW, my post to oic@lists.oasis-open.org bounced, since I'm not on that one. Please forward if you like.

    Hi

I'm going to try and attend and I'm looking forward to the
presentations. Though LiveMeeting is going to be a bit awkward for
me. In the interest of interoperability it would be nice to use
something cross platform like http://bigbluebutton.org/ - otherwise I
guess I'm going to have to borrow my wife's laptop for the event ...
    sigh.

    Regards
    Bob

+1 (and I hope VirtualBox works here).

Hi would also be interested in slides and video/audio recordings.

I used the contact link in the blog text from
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dmahugh/archive/2010/05/26/agenda-for-june-8-digital-signatures-workshop.aspx
some days ago, but didn't get any answer yet.

David - do you know if such things will be available?

I probably wont be able to attend, even not virtually, but I am very
interested in some of the presentations.

We are planning to record the presentations, which we will make available, according to Doug.

LiveMeeting, by the way, is the delivery vehicle for two reasons: it's a Microsoft product and therefore it's what the audio/video folks who are supporting the event will support. We hope it's as painless as possible, or at least a lot less painful than hopping a plane to come to Redmond for a one-day event.
