Subject: Re: [office] OpenDocument TC Coordination Call Minutes 2006-07-10

I don't know if we will state that the embedded spreadsheet is an interim solution in ODF 1.1, but I do think it's better to let the users know that we will work on this in ODF 1.2. I add my thought of the statement like this <my>...</my>.

    --------------E3 Tables in Presentations----------------------

Users importing non-OpenDocument slides that contain tables need access to the table structure via their assistive technology. Therefore tables imported into OpenDocument from another file format must have their structure preserved, and <my>because there is no in-line table specification, the interim solution is such table</my>should be imported as embedded spreadsheets. <my>Because of the character difference between spreadsheet and in-line table, some information of non-OpenDoucment in slide table information could not be interpreted into embedded SpreadSheet  To maintain the information interoperability, foreign element or attribute could be introduced to identify those characters that not contained in embedded spreadsheet, such as table dimension and the creation method of embedded SpreadSheet which could be used to differentiate the embedded spreadsheet created by importing from non-OpenDocument or by adding as an native Object.</my>

[office] OpenDocument TC Coordination Call Minutes 2006-07-10

    1. Dial-In, Roll Call

    Helen Yue, IBM
    Yue Ma, IBM
    Patrick Durusau, Individual
    Robert Weir, IBM
    Waldo Bastian, Intel
    David Faure, KDE
    Lars Oppermann, Sun Microsystems
    Bruce D'Arcus, The OpenDocument Foundation
    Gary Edwards, The OpenDocument Foundation
    David Wheeler, The OpenDocument Foundation
    Florian Reuter, The OpenDocument Foundation

    2. Approval of Meeting Minutes, Action Item Review

    Last Minutes:
The attending TC members unanimously accepted the minutes from the last
    coordination call.

    Action Items:
    DavidW, Eike: prepare apostrophe proposal
-> Eikes mail already includes enough information to put this into the spec.
ACTION: Lars to add the syntax to the spec
Yue Ma: post examples for potential table-embedding problems
    -> done
Lars: edit proposals into 1.1 draft
    -> done

    3. OpenDocument 1.0 2nd Edition

Public review has ended. There were no comments received, that concern
the specification directly. The comments received during the review
    phase where:
    1. http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office-comment/200606/msg00013.html
    2.
    http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office-comment/200606/msg00000.html

Comment 1 concerned handling of table-cell-properties and was describing
a behavior experienced in a specific implementation of the specification.

Comment 2 concerned inconsistent capitalization of style names. Style
names however are not part of the OpenDocument specification. Hence the
comment addresses an issue with a specific implementation of the
    OpenDocument format

RESOLUTION: the comments have no impact on OpenDocument 1.0 2nd Edition.
The TC can start the vote for committee specification
ACTION: Lars to request committee-spec ballot

    RESOLUTION:
The responses to ISO comments at
    http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/office/download.php/18912/iso-comment-responses.odt

are the final and approved version of the TCs responses.

    4. OpenDocument 1.1

    Degrees vs. radiants.
In general, it should be clarified in the spec, that angle measurements
are in units of degrees for draw-elements and -attributes.

    Tables in presentations
Embedded spreadsheets are an interims solution, until a full solution is
included into ODF 1.2. There are some issues with the flexibility of
embedded tables vs. inline tables. But we don't want to inflate the
    interims solution unnecessarily.
(YueMa:) I will post a proposal for a statement on this to the list

(David:) is the show-end-of-presentation-slide included in the current
    draft?

ACTION: Lars: make sure end of proposal is included for end of
presenation-slide (from DavidF), default is true

    New Action Items:
ACTION: Lars to add the apostrophe to the spec for cell names
ACTION: Lars to request committee-spec ballot
ACTION: Lars: make sure end of proposal is included for end of
presenation-slide (from DavidF), default is true

    Next Conference Call
    coordination call: 2006-07-17, 3:00PM-4:00PM UTC
