OASIS members:
Three seats serving two-year terms on the OASIS Identity and Trusted
Infrastructure (IDtrust) Member Section (MS) Steering Committee [1] are open
for nomination recommendations. There are five elected members on the
IDtrust Steering Committee; each serving two-year terms - the elections are
staggered annually to assure continuity of leadership.
The IDtrust Steering Committee provides guidance to help the Member Section
achieve its goal of promoting greater understanding and adoption of
standards-based identity and trusted infrastructure technologies, policies,
and practices. The nomination and election procedures for the Steering
Committee are defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2] and the IDtrust
Member Section Rules of Procedure [3].
Any IDtrust MS member [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate for
the Steering Committee - any OASIS member may join IDtrust at no additional
cost [5]. If you aren't currently active in IDtrust, now is a great time to
join. If you have any questions regarding joining the IDtrust Member

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE
Nominations will be open 21-May-2009 through 15-June-2009.
The election will be held 17-June-2009 through 07-July-2009.
NOMINATION PROCESS
Any IDtrust participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.
Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:
1. Accept the nomination;
2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position;
(participation in a two-hour teleconference each month - may be more
frequent during event planning period, attendance at one face-to-face
meetings annually, additional support activities as needed);
3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her qualifications and motivations for serving on the Steering
Committee; and
4. Be a participant the IDtrust Member Section.
ELECTION PROCESS
The three new Steering Committee members will be selected by the IDtrust
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the
electorate.
We encourage all IDtrust participants to consider serving on the IDtrust
Steering
Committee.
