    Hi All,

This is to update you on the progress with the XLIFF TC/ ISO TC 37 liaison. Kara Warburton, ISO TC 37 chair, had told me that the first step in XLIFF becoming an ISO standard was for us to establish an official liaison between the XLIFF TC, OASIS and ISO TC 37. She wanted this liaison to come from OASIS so that we would be in a position to help future standards that may want to go down this route and are relevant to TC 37. After discussion with Jamie Clarke, General Counsel for OASIS, he contacted the secretary of TC 37 proposing that he and I become liaison members from OASIS and the XLIFF TC. TC 37 has just completed a ballot on this and there was unanimous support.

This means we have completed the OASIS steps towards becoming an ISO standard with the interloper event in Dublin and have started to complete the ISO steps.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday,

    Peter.

Thanks again to Peter for volunteering to serve as the TC's liaison.
This should forge closer mutual understanding, which would be helpful
if the XLIFF specification eventually is submitted to ISO. For our
OASIS rules on such submissions, see:
    http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/liaison_policy.php#submitwork

Warm wishes for the holiday season and a very happy new year to all.
Our thanks again for your contributions to open standards. JBC

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for seeing this through. I'm certain you and Jamie will do a great job representing the XLIFF TC. I look forward to all the good that will come to the XLIFF community as a result of this effort and this liaison.

I have on e small point of confusion. Is the Dublin event you refer to a new event? Or do you possibly mean the Limerick event?

Many thanks and happy holidays to all,

    Bryan
