Last paragraph is where the real opportunity is: we've done this before in CAP. As for Security Fabric Alliance, seems like their work belong in SGIP. They're well-aware of what goes on in OASIS, I'm surprised they would choose to work at OMG. -- Laurent Liscia, CEO OASIS: Advancing open standards for the information society (510) 669-1261 Follow OASIS on: LinkedIn:

I haven't heard of that group before. maintenance for CAP and the alignment with the ITU Recommendation 1303. There are several activities going on in the ITU now where we need to work with them or we risk the standard being forked or otherwise obsolete. They will identify mechanisms to be able to highlight and address lack of a direct relationship between DHS and the Standards Development Organizations (SDO)s. Elysa asked if there was an effort to get folks together for different SDOs and have a place for maintenance funding for Standards in use. ... The IJIS Institute has their Springboard process. ... They want to try to use that process to hand NIEM exchanges to a collection of SDOs so someone can take it and develop it into a standard to maintain it. It would also provide a channel from the SDOs back to Government. Asked if the Standards Coordinating Council was part of that, Don replied he had not heard about that before this meeting today. With their past experience with PMISE, they will provide some funding for this kind of work but not the long term maintenance. NIEM is the exception. Seed funding could be provided for mission critical messaging then they would move on to the next thing. Kinda like venture capital, not long haul but some initiative for pilot activities. They are trying to setup a mechanism with DHS and FEMA. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Elysa Jones <
