    Hello XLIFF TC members,

I wholeheartedly endorse the idea of maintaining our XLIFF spec in an OASIS standard. I find this notice about Docbook very encouraging. If we found the DITA/DITA OT option equally compelling, I'd be happy to consider that option as well.

I think we should take a good look at moving to one of these standards for our specification. I'm very interested in the opinions of the TC on this (I guess a move to one of these standards would need to be *do-able* from the spec editor's point of view as a first step).

    Thanks,

    Bryan

    Hi Bryan,

I wholeheartedly endorse the DocBook toolkit. DITA is not yet baked into an easy-to-use package; the TC had to do much hard work and still does some things in an 'un-standard' way which I would not endorse.

    Regards,

    Hi Mary,

Thanks for letting us know. I kind of had that feeling by watching the DITA email threads. I love Docbook and DITA equally (just like I say to my kids). So perhaps we start with Docbook for now, with an option to transition to DITA as its tool matures (just my take - other opinions are welcome).

    Thanks,

    Bryan
