Thanks for these updates Alessandro.   I know your current focus is on use cases, but I have a higher-level question: assuming that instance models represent the various service instances deployed by an orchestrator based on Tosca service templates, why do we think there is a need to standardize such instance models? Aren’t instance models “run-time” data that are specific to each orchestrator, and as a result not likely to be shared between orchestrators? Or, asked a different way, what do you see as the problem that is solved by “standardizing” instance models?   Thanks,   Chris     From: tosca@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:tosca@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Alessandro Rossini Sent: Thursday, December 17, 2015 1:56 AM To: tosca@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [tosca] Groups - Instance Model Ad Hoc Meeting Minutes 2015-12-16 uploaded   Document Name : Instance Model Ad Hoc Meeting Minutes 2015-12-16 Description Instance Model Ad Hoc Meeting Minutes 2015-12-16 Download Latest Revision Public Download Link Submitter : Dr. Alessandro Rossini Group : OASIS Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud Applications (TOSCA) TC Folder : Meeting Notes Date submitted : 2015-12-17 01:55:16

Dear Chris, My apologies for the late reply; today is my first day at work this year. Standardising instance models would allow automated reasoning on- and manipulation of these models (e.g., by scaling out a VM instance in case of overload) and therefore enable self-adaptive cloud applications based on TOSCA. It would also allow automated testing of orchestrators (e.g., by comparing different instance models of the same service template). Several other use cases that would benefit from standardising instance models are being discussed during the Ad Hoc meetings. If you are interested in contributing to this discussion, I would be very pleased if you would join the Ad Hoc. The next meeting is scheduled for today at 18:00 CET (see https://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/tosca/event.php?event_id=41153 ). Thanks! Thanks for clarifying Alessandro. I wasn't able to make Wednesday's meeting (representing Tosca at the ETSI information modeling workshop) but will try to make future meetings. Thanks, Chris
