As Eliot points out, he needs to pass on his post as Chair for the GIS
SC. Let me be the first to thank him for his leadership and specifically
the group's work on the GIS aspects of CAP. This effort, and the group
as a whole, would not have been able to do what it has done without that
help.
As for electing a new Chair, this can happen via a vote on the GIS SC
call Tuesday. As a reminder, each member try to be present, so that a
"simple majority of quorum" can be achieved. If this does not happen,
then the vote can occur via email or through the Kavi Ballot system.
As a side note, the GIS SC has some VERY interesting topics and
discussions coming up. Everything from symbology to mapping/ensuring our
standards map into geospatial systems. Overall, this group provides
valuable knowledge, insight, and expertise to the other SCs and the
overall EM TC, making it very important to the overall success of the EM
TC. There is definite some valuable work to be done, and making sure the
SC has the human resources it needs is important.
Having said that, if you are interested in GIS, then please consider
this a call to action - to join the SC and start working in these much
needed areas. Also, if others have interest in the Chair position, then
now is the time to come forward and make it known.
Thanx again to Eliot for his work - the seeds have definitely been
planted for the SC to do great things!
