Hi Chet, my understanding is, that we need a place shared among the tc members to prepare "in boost mode" the documents later input to a public review stage. The storage is **not** for the public review itself. I hope this helps, Stefan. Am 04.04.13 17:33, schrieb Chet Ensign: Hi Ralf - I have to ask you the purpose of this folder. Hi, I happen to notice this dialog. If it helps, this from the TC Process Policy: 2.8 TC Visibility The official copies of all resources of the TC and its associated Subcommittees, including web pages, documents, email lists and any other records of discussions, must be located only on facilities designated by OASIS. TCs and SCs may not conduct official business or technical discussions, store documents, or host web pages on servers or systems not designated by OASIS. All web pages, documents, ballot results and email archives of all TCs and SCs shall be publicly visible. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul, I am not a lawyer but see absolutely no impact of 2.8 TC Visibility on our procedure. We simply cannot force the editors and tc internal reviewers to sit around a single computer. So this is in my understanding just a decentralized editor interlan storage which nearly neer is on oasis systems. All output reviewions of such reviews wil for sure be stored as usual in kavi and/or SVN of oasis. All the best, Stefan. Am 04.04.13 17:46, schrieb Lipton, Paul C: Hi, I happen to notice this dialog. Hi, Since the mails of this thread come in scrambled out of order (at least on my end) I would like to ensure with this mail, that there is a common understanding of our need and our workaround: We need a single document instance (per work product), that may be edited simultaneously from the members without loosing intermediate changes of other members/editors. These conflicts and unintended deletions would happen when using kavi and the revision download/upload cycle offered. SVN is also not the way to go here, since merges of word BIFF or office xml files upon commit are nearly never really intended, since these often simply destroy the document. So we put it on a shared drive and have mediated access to maxmize the simultaneously possible comments and change proposals (for wording typo removal etc.) If OASIS can offer such a feature, we will happily use this. Does this sound ok and decidable? All the best, Stefan. Am 04.04.13 17:54, schrieb Stefan Drees: Exactly (sorry I am not a native english speaker) this is only a scratch pad! Thanks Chet. Hi, IMO, I think if you are just using it for a collaborative editing tool, sort of like a webex whiteboard, and you post the results of the editing session to Kavi afterwards so that they are not hidden from Kavi and the public after your editing sessions, you should be OK. Good luck with this approach. Regards, Paul

Hi Chet and Paul, Thanks for approving this experiment. The Skydrive folder now contains copies of the latest Kavi revisions (2013-03-19) of the two specification documents (Atom and JSON formats) we'll cover in the telephone review next week. The only difference to the Kavi revisions is that all changes have been accepted, so we have a clean slate for commenting. After the telephone review I'll check the commented documents into Kavi, and we'll proceed editing as usual, using Kavi revisions. Thanks! --Ralf

Hi Ralf,  Well, actually I didn't approve the experiment. I still have concerns that you are creating TC draft documents that are off the platforms OASIS offers - which may not be everything you want them to be but are the official platforms.  To allay my concerns, please load a copy of the document at the end of every editorial session to the TC's Kavi archive. You can use the 'add a revision' feature to simply stack them up and avoid having long lists of documents on display. But that will ensure that as your work progresses, your drafts are kept publicly visible in the OASIS platform.  No one will be able to charge that anything is happening in some secret, hidden, off-OASIS location.  Thanks,  /chet  On Fri, Apr 5, 2013 at 11:53 AM, Handl, Ralf < ralf.handl@sap.com > wrote: Hi Chet and Paul, Thanks for approving this experiment. Hi Chet,   I’ll do that.   We are already using the Kavi revision feature to check in the “in-flight revisions” of our WD01 documents; the CSDL WD01 for example is now at revision #21, with a new revision almost every week.   The Skydrive files are just temporary copies of the latest Kavi revisions that allow collaborative editing/commenting and will move back to Kavi as soon as possible (this Friday for the first two of them).   Hope that allays your concerns! --Ralf   From: Chet Ensign [mailto:chet.ensign@oasis-open.org] Sent: Monday, 8. Hi Stefan, I don't want to be "dragged" into this discussion if I can help it (I have a meeting starting soon), but I think the key words are " The official copies of all resources". For resources that have no official standing whatsoever to the TC, I would assume you could use any device or cloud storage you want, but I defer to Chet for official interpretation of the rules as you intend to apply this shared folder. That said; if you are sharing the folder with the entire TC and there is any sort of communal editing or discussion, it does seem to have some quasi-official significance to the TC in practical terms (reality on the ground), at least. Going to another meeting now. Thanks, Paul

Hi Stefan,  Thanks for explaining. Per the OASIS TC Process, documents like that have to be kept on the OASIS platform.  If you want me to set up one or more folders in your document repository, just tell me what names you would like and I'll set them up.  But putting them on a drive off the OASIS infrastructure will violate the rules.  Setting up additional folders takes no time at all so just let me know.  Best,  /chet  On Thu, Apr 4, 2013 at 11:37 AM, Stefan Drees < stefan@drees.name > wrote: Hi Chet, my understanding is, that we need a place shared among the tc members to prepare "in boost mode" the documents later input to a public review stage.
