Clearly there's a need for a single servlet to handle multiple portlet 
types. Why do you feel there's a need for a single service (in the WSDL sense) 
to handle multiple portlet types? Why not map multiple services, each 
representing a different portlet type, into a single servlet using WSDL 
techniques, such as URL paths, etc.?
