Members of the ebXML Business Process TC,  I have been notified that the TC took actions to close in 2008 but that the process never completed. There is reference in emails to the decision in meetings to close the TC and transition its work and there is proposed ballot language but the only concrete record I can find is the email contributing the documents with ebBP maintenance and enhancement issues to the ebCore TC on 03 November 2008. See https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ebxml-bp/200811/msg00000.html   Nevertheless, it does appear that the intent of the TC was to close and TC Administration is empowered to close a TC "that fails to conduct at least one Quorate Meeting or conduct any Work Product Ballots during any six month period." See https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process#closingTC .  Therefore, unless I hear any objections raised, I will carry out the actions needed to close the TC next Thursday, 06 February 2014. Please let me know before then if you have any concerns about taking this action.  As is standard OASIS policy, the assets of the TC will remain publicly avaiable though no longer active. The TC's ebxml-bp-comment@lists.oasis-open.org will remain open so that former members can receive any outside feedback or questions in the future.   Best regards,   /chet  ---------------- Chet Ensign Director of Standards Development and TC Administration  OASIS: Advancing open standards for the information society http://www.oasis-open.org Primary: +1 973-996-2298 Mobile: +1 201-341-1393  Check your work using the Support Request Submission Checklist at  http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/47248/tc-admin-submission-checklist.html   TC Administration information and support is available at http://www.oasis-open.org/resources/tcadmin Follow OASIS on: LinkedIn:     http://linkd.in/OASISopen Twitter:         http://twitter.com/OASISopen Facebook:   http://facebook.com/oasis.open

Has the ebXML-BP TC acted to designate the ebXML Core TC as its maintenance TC?  As our rules allow?   I think it may have done so ... but if not, it should consider holding that vote before closing, so as to make the IPR rights of the "core" TVCV to conduct future maintenance more certain.   Cordially  JBC     James Bryce Clark, General Counsel OASIS: Advancing open standards for the information society http://www.oasis-open.org/who/staff.php     www.twitter.com/JamieXML http://t.sina.cn/jamiexml http://www.slideshare.net/jamiexml http://facebook.com/oasis.open On Thu, Jan 30, 2014 at 10:57 AM, Chet Ensign < chet.ensign@oasis-open.org > wrote: Members of the ebXML Business Process TC,  I have been notified that the TC took actions to close in 2008 but that the process never completed. Hi Jamie,   The contributions to ebCore were in the email Chet mentioned, apparently.   ebCore  agreed to take on maintenance issues for ebBP. I believe that Kathryn documented that in minutes of ebCore.   ebBP has not met since late 2008 or early 2009 and in ebCore we have not had many (any?) maintenance requests beyond those that existed at the intended time of transition.   ebCore is working on maintenance of ebCPPA. Pim is heading up that effort.   These are,at any rate, my recollections.   The handoff was up to policies of the time. IMO, it was just an oversight that the official closing did not occur. I checked that ebCPPA was closed, but somehow ebBP was left open and I did not –until recently—notice that it had been left open.   This is just correction of an ancient clerical error or so it seems to me.   Dale Moberg     From: ebxml-bp@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:ebxml-bp@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Jamie Clark Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2014 12:10 PM To: Chet Ensign Cc: ebxml-bp@lists.oasis-open.org; Scott McGrath; ebcore@lists.oasis-open.org Subject: [ebxml-bp] Re: Please raise any objections to closing the ebXML-BP TC now   Has the ebXML-BP TC acted to designate the ebXML Core TC as its maintenance TC? We should indeed close ebBP.   Right now the ebBP roster has 31 users but only one registered voting member (Dale),   so perhaps a vote is not necessary and Dale can just inform Chet that he wants the TC to close and designate ebCore as maintenance TC.   For CPA TC Admin did not ask for a vote,  but just closed it.  The ebCore was set up for maintenance and related new work.  While ebCore has not met recently,  there still is some interesting unfinished work that hopefully one day some of us finally find the time to work on .. HI   I think the email archives of both ebCore and ebBP indicate that ebCore is the place where maintenance of ebBP  is intended to occur. That is why the list of issues (enhancements and/or errata fixes) was transferred!   But if a refresher statement is needed, I hereby formally (or informally, if you prefer) indicate that ebCore will be the group to address any requests for corrections or enhancements to ebBP, and that the participants in that future effort  (should it come into existence) are expected to  work in accordance with OASIS processes at that time when a need for enhancements or errata is recognized by the members of ebCore.   Input from ISO TC 154 would, in my opinion, be precisely the kind of input that would lead ebCore to meet and consider what actions it deems appropriate.   Any members from ebCore (now putting on my ebCore co-chair hat) who wish to discuss these issues should indicate on the list, their desire to convene, and I will then schedule a session where we can discuss any concerns.   Thanks, Jamie,  for your formulation of your concern. I hope and trust that the above statements address that concern!   Dale Moberg         From: ebcore@lists.oasis-open.org [mailto:ebcore@lists.oasis-open.org] On Behalf Of Jamie Clark Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2014 11:57 PM To: Pim van der Eijk; Dale Moberg Cc: ebcore@lists.oasis-open.org; ebXML BP Mailing list; Chet Ensign Subject: [ebcore] Re: [ebxml-bp] Re: [ebcore] Re: Please raise any objections to closing the ebXML-BP TC now       My only open concern is that I am hoping to hear, at least informally, acknowledgement from Dale that the ebBP TC designated the ebCore TC to do further maintenance.  Under our rules, I believe that would permit ebCore to respond, if future input from the ISO TC 154 review (or anywhere else) raises questions of possible errata or revisions.      Kind regards  Jamie James Bryce Clark, General Counsel OASIS: Advancing open standards for the information society http://www.oasis-open.org/who/staff.php   On Mon, Feb 3, 2014, Pim van der Eijk < pvde@sonnenglanz.net > wrote:   We should indeed close ebBP. There is reference in emails to the decision in meetings to close the TC and transition its work and there is proposed ballot language but the only concrete record I can find is the email contributing the documents with ebBP maintenance and enhancement issues to the ebCore TC on 03 November 2008. See https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/ebxml-bp/200811/msg00000.html   Nevertheless, it does appear that the intent of the TC was to close and TC Administration is empowered to close a TC that fails to conduct at least one Quorate Meeting or conduct any Work Product Ballots during any six month period. See https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process#closingTC .
