FYI, here's an additional data point on some
e-commerce lawyer discussions of emergency services codes. I know
the host Richard Keck fairly well.

To members and friends of the Georgia Electronic Commerce
Association (GECA):
GECA's wireless working group is holding its second
meeting this Thursday, October 9,
2003, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Troutman Room, 52nd Floor, Bank
of America Plaza, 600 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia.
Beverages will be provided, but you will need to bring your
own lunch. RSVP to Co-Chairs
Kevin Hayes or Ravi Kalakota if
you plan to attend.
At its first meeting, the group decided to address the
non-implementation of E911 functionality by local
governments in rural Georgia. We will hear
from wireless network operators this
month, and from emergency service first responders
next month. Mark your calendars--the group will
meet on the 2nd Thursday each month. (November 13, December 11, January
8, February 12 )
GECA is a not-for-profit partnership of public and private
sector organizations working together to support public policy that
enhances Georgia's leadership in a global, digital economy. GECA supports
public policy that is market driven, predictable, sustainable, simple,
fair, technology and media neutral, and harmonized across jurisdictions.
For further information, visit
www.geca.org
or contact Kevin Hayes.
Participation in GECA working groups is open only to
representatives of organizations that are members of the Georgia
Electronic Commerce Association. Contact Kevin Hayes if you are not a
member and would like a "free trial" attendance. Working group
meetings are intended to be "off-record" opportunities to
express and hear nonbinding viewpoints. Participants are expected to
honor this protocol.
