Marlon - 5.30am pst is simply too early for anyone on this coast.

If there's any option to move to later then that might allow some folks from this timezone to join.

If we move it could we move it by 3 hours instead of 2.5. so 11:30 eastern vs 11.

Fridays 10:30-11:30 eastern is one of the time windows I have something I can not move.

    Hi All.

We are trying to involve as many of the willing participants as possible.

We have folks spread across many timezones.  Christian (my other co-chair) is in Luxembourg and Allan is on the PST.

    I would suggest an alternating 1st, 3rd at 8a EDT and 2nd, 4th Fridays at 11a EDT.

Is this a viable solution for the group??

    Regards,

    Steve Relitz

    Hi all,

Any of the times proposed effectively rules out participation from the Asia Pacific region. 12pm EST is 4am NZST.

I'm definitely used to starting up late or getting up early to attend global meetings, but 4am is just a bit too early!

8am EST is midnight here so whilst difficult is at least doable.

    Thanks
    Terry

And I would imagine that Fridays would be terrible for Asia and Europe anyway, given that it would be Friday Night in Europe (date night) and Saturday morning in Asia.

I would also like to know what are the objectives of these meetings. Are we actually going to drive work forward, or is it just maintenance work? What is the vision going forward for STIX? What is the plan? What are the objectives we are looking for?

    Thanks
    Bret

    Terry and Bret,

Thus my suggestion to have alternating times -- also open to other suggestions.

Plan to discuss many of those items tomorrow Bret.

Agree with Bret (on both key points) - that Friday is probably hard to find a good time for most timezones for all the reasons stated.

Given that most technical work has to be done asynchronously in this international standards org,

I suggest that the group try to develop the future plan in a working document that we can all see and comment on, and then only use the meeting slots if in-person collaboration is absolutely necessary to resolve issues or vote on something worthwhile.

I would be happy to miss most meetings (in general :-)) if I can contribute offline/asynchronously to technical topics, documents, slack channels…etc.

    regards

    Allan

I assume with all the discussion today's meeting was cancelled.  Still waiting for the host 😊

I prefer working async as well, but meetings serve as deadlines.  If only there were virtual meetings on a specific calendar date, but nobody actually met.
