[followup from Dec 9 discussion]
Stan; thinking to move away from monolithic user guide to a set of CNs; takeaway from meeting in Dec. So Zoe found user guide topics, kris extracted some review PDFs, and stan got stuff from Adoption TC
Zoe; I need to do more; I couldn't find all the review PDFs. searched PDFs in doc repo, didn't come up with much, went thru meeting notes, now that Kris has shown me the good set of PDFs I'll go thru and try to assemble the user guide info.
Stan; Adoption TC had slightly diff focus but some are relevant; also, a bunch of stuff is in whitepapers that could possibly be updated for 2.0 - some from 1.0, 1.1, 1.2. Also, there are a lot of topics that folks mentioned as 'stuff we might want to do'; we should have a kickoff meeting to see who might be willing to work on this. Then we should try recruitment of non-active TC members.
[Christina and Leroy interested in contributing]
Nancy; so will all the info have links before the meeting?
Zoe; yes
Stan; Frank , are you available?
Frank; think I might be.
Kris; currently the 2 CNS we've talked about; 1) Migrating to 2.0, and 2) 2.0 troubleshooting. The original troubleshooting CN was out there from Bob Johnson, but 2.0 made it obsolete
Stan; I'll add links to those 2 CNS.
***AI: Stan will work scheduling issues and set up a meeting, maybe late next week.
Kris; would like to throw out as last-minute agenda item; how do we get 2.0 finished and out the door? Some is me and Robert.
***AI: Kris and Robert will meet this week to talk about how to get 2.0 out asap.
Christine; and we could make updates to 2.0 later if we just want to.
Nancy; that's harder than you might think; not that likely that we'll do it.
Robert; so we need to focus attention on critiaal stuff, and ignore stylistic stuff.
Frank; we just need to get the basics right, and correct only errors that are revealed.
Robert; this is a spec, not software.
Other:
Robert; re DITA Europe, rail strikes and road closures around Brussels are expected around that time, so be careful. As it happens, there's another big software conference there same weekend, and they have a travel advisory on their webpage that you can check.
