Submitter's message Greetings!
Draft minutes for the ODF TC teleconference on 24 August 2026 are attached and pasted below.
Hope everyone is at the start of a great week!
Patrick
Draft Minutes:
Patrick: Francis, Patrick, Regina, Michael, Olivier - quorum
Patrick: Minutes of August 17th 2026 - approved by consent
Patrick: Any new action items? No
Patrick: Rich - joins
Svante Schubert: Svante - joins
Patrick: Joint meetings on spreadsheet functions - add as 4a
Patrick: Agenda approved as amended
Patrick: 4.a Joint meetings on spreadsheet functions
Patrick: From Svante's email:
Murata-san has offered two dates for discussing spreadsheet functions within ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34 WG 4, regarding the joint OOXML and ODF spreadsheet function efforts. He is also working to put us in contact with Google.
The two meetings are planned in the next few months - keeping in mind that Regina tends to be a late bird - I suggested midnight in Germany and early morning in Japan:

Patrick: End Svante's email.
Patrick: Francis - general discussion of functions not in Microsoft, some proposed for ODF, what is the best way forward.
Patrick: Francis - is there work to be done here, how to move forward
Patrick: Attending - Patrick, Regina, Olivier, Svante, Francis
Patrick: Olivier - can invite experts - people from Google -
Patrick: Svante will contact Murata-san - after we have a list of invitees
Svante Schubert:
https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-4211
Rich McLain: Need to drop, being pulled into another meeting.
Patrick: #5. Office-42ll - Patrick's Spreadsheet - line 17
Patrick: Regina - standard doesn't specify method - "There is no closed form for IRR. Evaluators may return an approximate solution using an iterative method, in which case the Guess parameter may be used to initialize the iteration. If the evaluator is unable to converge on a solution given a particular Guess, it may return an Error."
Regina Henschel: Directly before 6.3: Functions and operators are defined by mathematical formulas or by an OpenFormula formula. Formulas define the correct result, and not the algorithm for calculation. Since computing systems have limited precision and range of numbers, some functions cannot or should not be naively implemented as their formulas suggest. This specification defines the mathematically correct answer, and allows implementors to choose the best algorithm that will meet that definition.
Patrick: Olivier - offer a set of data and solve within a certain number of decimal places - all should have the same accuracy
Patrick: Regina - we should not define algorithms as per just before 6.3
Patrick: Francis - formulas - can have different algorithms that implement them.
Patrick: Regina - results are approximate - by definition
Patrick: Olivier - when converging - what is an acceptable value with error limit
Patrick: Action item: Patrick invite Arne to discussion -
Patrick: ODDFYIELD - contact Arne.
Patrick: YIELD - contact Arne
Patrick: Line 20 PPMT - Regina - can't answer today but look at other functions that return currency -
Patrick: Olivier - 6.12.36 PMT returns currency
Patrick: Lines 21 and 22, also raise questions about return value being currency
Patrick: Action item: Line 23 - currency or percentage Patrick
Patrick: Line 24 - typo for correction
