TAC TC,
I'm very sorry to inform you that Ryan Hohimer is stepping away from his position as co-chair of the TAC TC.
Ryan has been leading our TC since the beginning (2019), and his absence will be noticeable. The good news is that Ryan will keep supporting us from an adopter/implementer's perspective, so I'm confident we will see him around.
From my side, I want to thank Ryan for bringing our technical work to this stage, carrying most of TC's responsibilities, and making this TC a group of friends with whom we all have a good time while working on our passion (standards development). He will be greatly missed.
The TC will continue its technical work. I'll follow up on this matter with another email. For now, I want to copy Ryan's message addressed to the whole TC into this email. Again, thank you, Ryan.
"Dear TAC-TC,
I no longer have a role that qualifies me to be a member of the OASIS community. Please don't misunderstand this statement, I still have a passion for cybersecurity standards development. However, the time has come to have an adopter's perspective, rather than a contributor's perspective.
As those of you who know me know, I strongly believe that the future of STIX should be based upon semantic technologies. Semantic graphs have the capacity to not only persist cyber observables but to persist cyber-analyst's knowledge, logic, and tradecraft. One of the upcoming milestones is the application of description logic reasoning over STIX expressed facts. I look forward to reaching this milestone.
I enjoyed working and contributing to the development of the next generation of the STIX standard. This is how I view the work of the TAC-TC. The TAC-TC is helping define where the STIX standard should go.
A great deal of pride can be taken in the artifacts that the TAC-TC has created while I have been involved. In particular, the encoding of stix.owl. Congratulations to the TAC-TC for advancing the Cyber Threat Intelligence community's capabilities.
Sincerely,
Ryan Hohimer"
