Minutes: 1/Roll Call Record of attendees as recorded in KAVI. Tony mentioned the departure of Mark Levins, and welcomed Eiju Akahane to the group. Eiju introduced himself to the group. 2/Discussion of F2F meeting and review of minutes Tony gave a review of the minutes of the F2F: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/event.php?event_id=3167&day=1071226800 Some thoughts about the F2F: Tony thought that it could have gone better and that there were not enough people joining. However, he was suprised and pleased by the number of interested observers that joined the meeting as it added to the experience. There were some logistical problems that could have been better addressed in hindsight. However, these lessons can be taken forward and borne in mind for future meetings. John Reid was happy to hear the comments from the observers as it gave a valuable insight. However, he expressed a view that it would have been nicer to get these comments earlier on in the development of the specification. Some discussion followed about investigating the possibilities of using some web-conferencing software for future meetings. Mat identified the whiteboarding functionality as possibly being particularly useful. Gerard suggested that it would be prudent to have future meetings coincide with other TCs. For example, OSCAR, LISA, Translation Web Services. This may provide sufficient leverage to encourage an attendee to be there in person. It also encourages observers which, as identified above, is a good thing. 3/Accept or reject F2F meeting minutes as record, or revise: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/event.php?event_id=3167&day=1071226800 Mat motions John seconds Motion carried. Meeting minutes approved. 4/Review status of action items from F2F meeting: a. John will forward the latest Novell Formats specification, with winres, java properties, and others, after passing it through legal. (Due: 03/12/19) Complete b. Tony will ask Bryan & Doug to look at html & rtf. (Due: 03/12/19) Tony has now asked Yves & Bryan to look at this and they have already started. Some discussion as to what aspects of HTML/RTF are going to be addressed. Yves suggests starting with in HTML as this has the closest resemblance to a dialog. They will also take a look at the form elements in RTF. They will look to address HTML 4.01 and XHTML. New due date: 3-Feb-2004 for an initial draft. c. Gerard & Enda will review resx to determine if the winres spec satisfies those requirements. (Due: 04/1/16 [dialogs first]) Not yet done. Started but not got very far. Some research done internally by Gerard. May take a little while because some of the formats are still evolving. New due date: 3-Feb-2004 for an initial draft. d. Tony will review java resource bundles to determine if the winres spec satisfies those requirements. (Due: 04/1/16 [dialogs first]) Not yet done. New due date of 3-Feb-2004 for an initial draft. e. John will review java properties to determine if the winres spec satisfies those requirements. (Due: 04/1/16 [dialogs first]) Not yet done. New due date of 3-Feb-2004 for an initial draft. f. John will create a template for the formal proposal process. (Due: 04/1/16) Not yet done. Tony and John to have a call off line to discuss this and the subsequent item (g below). New due date of 3-Feb-2004. g. Tony will create a change mgmt process. (Due: 04/1/16) Not yet done. See above. Additionally, Andrzej expressed an interest in sharing his XML/XLIFF experiences with the TC. Tony asked Andrzej if he would take a look at XForms and its potential representation in XLIFF. XForms information can be found here: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/ 5/All other business. Tony recalled from the 25-Nov-2003 meeting an item for actioning errata in the specification and called for errata to be submitted to the group. There is already one error in the section on extensibility (one of the examples is missing a element so the example XML is not valid). Jamie Clark from OASIS gave an overview of how other TCs are handling errata. Tony suggested that we create an errata form and then apply these errata at a major milestone point, rather than making continual modifications. The errata will be accumulated and posted to match the specification. Once a new version/committee spec is cleared, all these errata will be dealt with at that time. Mat has found broken links in the HTML document. David suggested that it might be possible to use HtmlQA (from SDL). However, subsequent investigation has revealed that this is not a suitable tool. Tony mentioned the ClientSide News review of XLIFF which was written by Florian Sachse (see http://www.clientsidenews.com/publications.asp). It would appear to draw some strange conclusions; Tony is considering righting some wrongs from the article. Jamie suggested that having performance guidelines along with the specification may help alleviate these sort of problems. The could be either part of the specification or part of a policy document. 6/Next XLIFF teleconference scheduled for Tuesday, 17 Feb, 2004 at 4pm GMT / 11am EST / 8am PST.
