The issues are documented in the following mails: i. Handling escaping and replaceables in XLIFF -> http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200509/msg00013.html ii. A number of issues in this email: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200509/msg00023.html 1/Differentiate between different Java platforms/versions 2/Address XML-based properties 3/Provide pointers to Java pages on internationalization 4/Sketch the Extract&Merge Paradigm 5/Handling of references (especially to non-textual resources) 6/Approach for comments c.survey of existing parsing tools ->http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200509/msg00025.html These issues have not yet been addressed - need final word on escaping. d. Minutes: 1/roll call There were 7 members present as recorded in Kavi. Apologies: Milan. 2/Previous meeting minutes: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200601/msg00014.html (NOTE: Not quorate) Previous quorate meeting minutes from January teleconference: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200601/msg00008.html The minutes were agreed as a correct record. Tony proposed and Magnus seconded. 3/ Work in Progress: A. XLIFF 1.2 Specification Ballot Passed Approving Committee Draft: Ballot Result: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/ballot.php?id=943 XLIFF 1.2 Committee Draft Specification: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/16367/draft-xliff-core-1.2-20060123.zip This work will now be submitted to OASIS for a public review. We will discuss later in the meeting which representation guides should be included. This should include at least the HTML representation guide. Andrzej raised issues around how to represent some XHTML mark-up such as the tag. Doug pointed out this is dealt with by the representation guide. For most of these ‘x-‘ is used. Doug raised the issue of using prop-group. It was suggested that this might be dealt with by using the tool element or a namespace or the phase element. B. Namespace Versioning The policy of changing the namespace every version is complicating the XSLTs to process XLIFF documents. Comments were recently submitted describing the problem: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200602/msg00005.html Doug Domeny provides a synopsis of the issues in the following email: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200602/msg00006.html and calls for discussion on the topic. TC to review and ballot to approve the revised representation guide as committee draft. We voted to approve this by seven votes to nil. This will be part of the 1.2 specification pack. b. NET & Windows Resources NOTE: NO PROGRESS SINCE MEETING IN NOVEMBER Initial draft of .NET Profile: Latest draft of Windows Res Data Resources (revised 21 Sep 2005): http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200509/msg00011.html c. Tony asked for volunteers to complete this work as he has not got the time to complete it at present. d. PO Files: THIS ISSUE IS CLOSED - leaving in agenda for historical purposes. No licensing issues exist with the work that was submitted to the XLIFF TC by Paul Gampe. The proposed final PO file document submitted for ballot: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/download.php/14854/xliff-profile-po.zip The ballot achieved a simple majority, and therefore PASSED and results are here: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/ballot.php?id=851 This representation guide will now be distributed along with the other resource type guides. Mat was not online and we need to resolve the namespace issue. Mat has been off sick and was not able to complete this. b. Extending XLIFF with separate namespaces. Addressing this issue is deferred until the new year (when Andzrej has volunteered to spend some time on research). Andrzej has completed this. 4/XLIFF 1.2 Certification activities: Placeholder for any Ignite issues requiring discussion... Tony will be in contact with Reinhard. 5/ Reports from liaisons involved with other standards groups: A. W3C i18n – Christian reported that the working group has had their first call for comments and the second call will happen at the end of this month. He think the new draft will be powerful. The XLIFF mailing list will be asked for comments. They are looking for additional contributors. If interested contact Yves. Some members are in touch with DITA about Internationalisation. B. Oscar – Andrzej reported that GMX (Globalisation Management eXchange) an XML vocabulary for exchanging localisation data. This specification is closely linked with XLIFF which it uses. C. Trans-WS – Peter reported that the TC was working on a whitepaper and FAQs. D. LRC – no report. E: OASIS DITA Translation Subcommittee: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=dita – A number of people from the TC are attending this meeting. The XLIFF TC and others have been asked to help them to resolve some of the localisation issues they are facing. If anyone is interested, Tony will get them included in the mailing list for this meeting. 6/ Events- none scheduled 7/ All other business – Christian raised the issue of whether we need a conformance clause. Tony will check what we have to do with this. Tony also mentioned that he needs affidavit from TC members saying how they use XLIFF 8/ Next meeting: in 2 weeks - 7 March 2006, 11am EST / 4pm BST
