Representation Guides: a. HTML (Bryan) http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200503/msg00001.html Bryan went throught the changes to the document in detail. You can follow these changes using the text highlighted in red in the document attached to the above email. Next Steps: 1. Gain consensus on each change made (or get clear direction on how to fix the parts where no consensus can be reached). 2. Answer the couple of remaining questions in the HTML forms section 3. Validate each example against the XLIFF schema to ensure it all works (not a small task, but necessary) 4. Update the Table of Contents 5. Update Appendix B examples to be sure they follow the approved guidelines 6. Perform a final quality check on spelling, grammar, cross-references, etc. b. NET & Windows Resources Florian sent initial thoughts: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200502/msg00002.html We'll cover this document in this meeting. c. Java Resource Bundles Defer until May meeting. B. Unresolved issues: a. Translation of Voice XML Issues ~ Open until resolution of namespace issue from Representation Guides. - Action Item: Mat will submit a proposal on how to handle Voice XML issues. Initial: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200403/msg00016.html Latest Update: http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200403/msg00017.html b. Accepting Suggested Translations In XLIFF Mat's updated proposal: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200502/msg00010.html Review, discuss and agree to next steps. ARCHIVE of Suggested Translations: Mat merged his and Magnus's comments together and reposted the proposal: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200412/msg00003.html Initial: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200407/msg00000.html Update: http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200403/msg00017.html 4/ Segmentation SC: Meeting to review Segmentation Proposal took place Tuesday, 5 April. Meeting details here -> http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200504/msg00003.html Summary of resolutions from meeting: -the attribute names will be shortened as follows: "segmentation-source" -> "seg-source", and "equivalent-translation" -> "equiv-trans" -the manipulation / segementation of elements exists solely in the "translator" domain, not at the extraction filter domain. This means that segmentation will either be performed by the Editor tool or possibly automated segmentation process. It was agreed that this would be documented in the proposal and XLIFF spec. -move equivalent-translation from trans-unit to target. A revised proposal will be distributed to the TC and we will decide on ballot at the TC teleconference. ARCHIVE: Proposal for Segmentation Notation in XLIFF (Magnus): http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200503/msg00002.html Initial Feedback: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200503/msg00005.html http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200503/msg00004.html 5/ Reports from liasons involved with other standards groups: A. Minutes: 1/roll call: There were 10 members present as recorded in Kavi Apologies: Christian 2/Previous meeting minutes: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200503/msg00010.html The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as a correct record. This was proposed by Magnus and seconded by Dave. 3/ Work in Progress: A. Representation Guides: a. HTML (Bryan) http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200504/msg00001.html Tony suggested we could do a limited peer review with this document. This would include review by W3C. Bryan offered to validate the XLIFF examples in this. It was agreed to clean up the remaining editorial notes. This document would then be considered as a candidate for a committee specification. Oasis has a specific name for this which Tony will forward to us. The document will be sent to review by the W3C ITS team and OSCAR. This will last about two weeks. There will be a ballott following this which will be to propose this document as a committee specification. The ballot will take place on May 9th. The meeting thanksed Bryan and Yves for their work. b. NET & Windows Resources Florian sent initial thoughts: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/xliff/email/archives/200502/msg00002.html Florian outlibed the issues with .NET resources and how it differs from the Windows resources and how localisation tool providers need to deal with this. He gave the example of the direction identifier has changed from Windows to .NET where there are three possibilities rather than two. Florian sent an email on the XLIFF implementation of RCWinTrans. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xliff/200504/msg00005.html He outlined the way RCWinTrans approached XLIFF. This is detailed in the document attached to the mail listed above. Tony mentioned that it would be useful to develop a table of .NET and Windows resources and how to deal with these using XLIFF. Tony suggested forming a sub-group to do this. Milan, Florian, Tony and Peter expressed their interest in looking at this. Tony will arrange this meeting for the beginning of May. It was also agreed that we should invite Schaudin.com to join. Florian offered to contact them. Florian was also congratulated on his approach in looking positively at his competitor’s products. c. Java Resource Bundles Defer until May meeting. B. Unresolved issues: a.
