Hello! When trying to copy a public oasis mailing list on a widely copied message, time invariably comes when someone not subscribed attempts to reply only to find subscription is required to post. Many people complain about this - a person might want to contribute only once - send a message but not to get unrelated traffic on the list. It might seem like a small issue, but it is a big barrier to participation by communities such as the linux kernel community, which have etiquette rules against subscriber-only mailing lists. As a result virtio is forced to use an external list for development discussion, which is far from ideal. It would be very benefitial, at least for lists such as virtio-dev which we use for virtio, if instead of requiring people to subscribe, the list software would - send back a message requesting agreement to IPR rules - after person agrees to IPR rules, let the message through, and add the sender to list of addresses allowed to post Is this something that can be added? Thanks, -- MST

Hi Michael,  I don't work with the mailing lists so I am copying Scott and Robin who manage them. I'm not sure what is possible so asking them to weigh in.  Best,  /chet On Wed, Jun 28, 2017 at 10:49 AM, Michael S. Tsirkin < mst@redhat.com > wrote: Hello! Hi Michael, The feature you seek is not supported by our current mail-list engine, which is EOL or WP-EOL, depending on your perspective.   We are currently evaluating a variety of new service options, so your request is timely. I'd be happy to add this feature to to our consideration, and equally happy to hear your recommendations for systems that support it. Thanks, Scott... Looks like others requested this support in GNU Mailman: https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/issues/83 so it seems safe to assume it's not yet present there. > On Wed, Jun 28, 2017 at 11:09 AM, Chet Ensign <chet.ensign@oasis-open.org> > wrote: > > Hi Michael,  > > I don't work with the mailing lists so I am copying Scott and Robin who > manage them.
