I sent the following message to Eliot regarding the CAP workshop. We will be talking later today regarding. Please let me know if you have any additional comments/questions.
Dear Eliot,
We just completed our bi-weekly CAP-SC meeting.
- Event terms. Norm is working on an update to the Event Terms list and will prepare for a new edition to be released by the workshop. We discussed the possibility of have a 2-hour session on the "training" day regarding. The use of and update of this list will be of interest to many.
- Training Day. We would also like for you to consider renaming that day as folks may be less inclined to attend if they think it is only about CAP Training. Perhaps something like specific implementation details or a catchy name to encourage folks to attend.
- Practices. We would also like to have a session that day about "Practices". As we know there are several organizations with their own "CAP Practices" that are not coordinated. Norm suggested that we could do this as a panel with a representative for each of the different guides. We could then take several of the elements and have each express their recommended or documented practice regarding. The committee thought that would be a great idea.
- Mobile Alerting Practices (MAP) We also plan to have an updated MAP document by the workshop. Not sure if there should/could be a bit of time for a presentation on that on the pre-day.
We would like to have an on-site CAP-SC meeting during the workshop at an appropriate time. Many of our members plan to be there in person and the other can join remotely or in person as guests.
With this being the 20-year anniversary, we hope to have some good publicity. I plan to write a note to all attendees for you to send to your broad list. I'm in connection with OASIS staff regarding planning for this. We hope to have Exec Dir Francis Breland attend for the OASIS welcome – have requested bio and pic. We may have some pin or other memorabilia to provide. Hoping to squeeze what I can out of the organization for support.
