Greetings! Alex Brown writes In 3.10.2 the term ODF Consumer is not defined. The challenged language reads: An ODF Consumer shall use application settings to alter application behavior only within the dimensions of variability permitted by this standard. Question: Does this get into implementation versus format issues? As was alluded to earlier today about change tracking? BTW, part 3, 2.4 defines OpenDocument Package Consumer. I checked the other parts of the standard and this is the only instance of it. Suggestion: Unless we want to tackle the application issue here (I suggest not), then: ODF Consumer -> Opendocument Package Consumer if no one objects by Friday, 23rd March 2012. At that point I will open, resolve, apply and close the issue. See: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3684 Hope everyone is having a great day! Part 1, section 2.4 says: "2.4 Consumer An OpenDocument consumer is a program that can parse and interpret OpenDocument documents according to the semantics defined by this specification, and that meets the following additional requirements..." > > The challenged language reads: > An ODF Consumer shall use application settings to alter application > behavior only within the dimensions of variability permitted by thisstandard. > > Question: Does this get into implementation versus format issues? The gist of this was that an ODF Consumer can have implementation-specific behaviors, but only the the extent that they do not violate another requirement of the specification. > See: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3684 > > Hope everyone is having a great day! > > Patrick > -- > Patrick Durusau > patrick@durusau.net > Chair, V1 - US TAG to JTC 1/SC 34 > Convener, JTC 1/SC 34/WG 3 (Topic Maps) > Editor, OpenDocument Format TC (OASIS), Project Editor ISO/IEC 26300 > Co-Editor, ISO/IEC 13250-1, 13250-5 (Topic Maps) > OASIS Technical Advisory Board (TAB) - member > > Another Word For It (blog): http://tm.durusau.net > Homepage: http://www.durusau.net > Twitter: patrickDurusau
