    Dear CSAF TC Members,

    With this message I want to share some exciting information with you, plus seek your input regarding an upcoming opportunity.

    I have been invited as speaker to the OpenEuler Summit 2024 in Beijing, China. This is a premier conference focused on open source and operating systems.

    At the summit I plan to give a CSAF-related presentation, which includes an introduction of CSAF to the audience.

    (By the way, there may be an opportunity for a fellow TC member to share the stage with me for this part, this is currently being explored.)

    During the summit, the organizers also plan to launch the OpenEuler Global Sustainable Development Initiative for Open Source Operating Systems. The organizers hope this launch can be done on behalf of the CSAF TC alongside several other guest representatives.

    I would appreciate the TC's thoughts and authorization on this representation. If this aligns with the TC's vision, and if I don't receive any concerns before Sunday, November 10th, I would like to convey the TC's support for this initiative during the launch.

    Dear Mr. van Lingen: 

        Thank you for the meeting information, and your interest in helping to promote CSAF.  I work with OASIS's staff team.  As I understand it, this conference is primarily focused on development of the OpenEuler operating system, an open source OS.  Most importantly, it's coming up very fast, only a few days from now.
        We appreciate the endorsement of CSAF, and your planned presentation at the OpenEuler Summit.  Unfortunately, official statements of comment or support for the Initiative (or on any topic) from one of our TCs would require first that we consult them at a meeting, in which the TC members consider and then vote to approve a statement.  There simply isn't time to seek that approval (or arrange for much else) when we learn of an event 7 days before it occurs.
