  • 1.  DPS TC GitHub Repository has been established

    Hello DPS TC Members:

    The motion to create a TC GitHub repository passed with 12 yes votes as of the writing of this email. Since this exceeds the number of votes needed for the motion to pass, a ticket was submitted to the TC Administrator to establish the repository. 

    The repository has been established and can be located here: https://github.com/oasis-tcs/dps

    A couple of points:
    • Maintainers are still being added
    • The second paragraph of the CONTRUBUTING.md file where instructions are given for non-TC members is still being worked on by OASIS staff. This does not prevent TC members from using the repository. 
    • Contributions can be added by opening a pull request for the maintainers to review. It is expected that the maintainers will take action in a reasonable time frame. 
    • Contributors should also send a list to the TC mailing list for visibility once the pull request has been made.
    • If you prefer to make your contributions outside of Github, they can be added to this folder in your workspace with an email to the TC mailing list.

    The GitHub repo established is a "TC" repo. Could you provide a link to the info describing the two types of OASIS GH repos? I believe some of the work being contributed (eg the "software") belongs in the 'open' repos as opposed to the text for standards/work products which belongs in this repo. I believe text for work products (eg specs,  standards, committee notes) must be. In a TC repo but that 'software' "should" be in an open repo but. I may be misremembering and hence my question to OASIS staff so the members can make an conscious informed decision of what to put where.

    Thanks for your question. 

    OASIS has two main repository types which I have summarized below.

    1. Open Repositories:

      • For non-spec content like code, data, or guidance. (Key is that this info is not intended to be part of the TC's future specifications)

      • Can use any OASIS approved open source license

      • Governed by Open Repo policy.

    2. GitHub for TC, aka 'TC repos' or 'TC-only repos': (this is the repo type DPS voted to open)

      • For work intended for specs ("chartered work").

      • Must use the specific license mode tied to the TC's charter.

      • Governed by GitHub for TC policy.

      • Only TC members can contribute officially; exceptions for public comments exist via the Feedback License.

      • Maintainers must confirm CLA or membership before pulling in contributions
