During our meeting on October 21st there was an agenda item titled "Open Semantic Interchange Initiative, aligned? outreach? learn more? : [Snowflake Unites Industry Leaders to Unlock AI's Potential with the Open Semantic Interchange Initiative](https://www.snowflake.com/en/blog/open-semantic-interchange-ai-standard/)" that I said I'd look into and get back to the group.

The Open Semantic Interchange is about making it possible to share and/or exchange semantic models between tools and platforms.  From what I've been able to glean, a semantic model is a logical model that sits on top of the physical data model and makes it possible for business users to be able to make sense of the stored data.  For example, the business may be familiar with entities such as invoices, line items, customers, addresses, suppliers, etc.  The semantic model maps these entities to the data storage layer and provides additional context for the data such as units and relationships between entities.

Based on my findings, I believe the Open Semantic Interchange is orthogonal to the Data Provenance Standards.
